2024 SUMMER SUBMISSION GRAPPLING CHAMPIONS THERE ARE NO POINTS OR ADVANTAGES, SIMPLY A SUBMISSION OR A DRAW. ROUND ROBIN, GI AND NO-GI DIVISIONS

SGT TOURNAMENTS ARE A SUBMISSION BASED GRAPPLING EVENT.

ITS NOT 'WHO SUBMITS WHO', ITS WHO EVER GETS THE MOST SUBMISSIONS WINS

SUBMISSION ONLY:
No points or advantages awarded.
If there are no submissions, the bout will be deemed a DRAW.

ROUND ROBIN:
Each of our competitors will face each other (up to 4 bouts per division based on a random draw). Not matter if you win, lose or draw, you will continue to the next bout.
If there is a division of 2 athlete's, the division will be a 'best of three'. If there are no submissions in the division, no medals will be awarded.

Divisions of 10 or more:
The competitors will go into a POOLED event with the top ONE or TWO competitors moving into the ELINIMATION ROUNDS for the FINALS.
The finals will still be SUBMISSION ONLY and if there is a DRAW in the FINAL, a second round BOUT to DETERMINE the winner. If at the end of the SECOND ROUND with both bouts coming to a DRAW, TWO GOLD Medals will be awarded.

GI AND NO-GI DIVISIONS:
We run both Gi and NO-GI divisions on the same day. You can choose to do one or both.
Competing in both will give the athlete a 10% discount on the registration fee at check out.
Kids, Teens and Adults have the option to choose from the two divisions or compete in both.

POINT SYSTEM 

Competitors will be awarded points for each fight based on the outcome of the fight

- Win by Submission  3 Points

- Win by Points          2 Points

- Win by Ref Dec         2 Points

- Draw  / Walkover      1 Point

- Loss                        0 Points

The competitor with the most number of points at the conclusion of each bracket will be awarded 1st Place, the second highest point scorer will be awarded 2nd Place and the 3rd highest point scorer will be awarded 3rd place.

In the event of a Draw the winner will be decided by:

*Most number of submissions (if this is tied then the fastest submission)

*Most number of Points (if this is tied then the highest individual winning margin)

If by some chance the above is still a Draw... We will award 2 medals :)

WEIGH IN

Weigh ins will commence 20 mins before the 1st fight. Competitors are to weigh-in, in their No gi gear. Competitors ARE permitted to wear a rashie or t-shirt under their Gi

DIVISIONS

ABJJC will endeavour to keep competitors in the division that they entered. We will automatically place fighters into the next weight category or age division if needed. Coaches will be contacted if divisions need to be mixed or competitor needs to be placed in a higher weight or age division. If you do not wish to have your child placed in a different division please notify your coach.

*WHEN THE BRACKETS ARE RELEASED, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US DIRECTLY TO MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR DIVISIONS (UNLESS WE HAVE MADE A MISTAKE).  IF FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE BRACKET AND WHO IS IN THE BRACKET AND YOU CHOSE TO WITHDRAW, NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED IF WE FOLLOWED THE ABOVE PARAMETERS*

The Safety of all competitors is our #1 priority, and we would not put a child in a position where they could get hurt. We want the kids to enjoy the experience- win , lose or draw.

*We ask that you complete your registration as early as possible. This will give more opportunity to have larger brackets and in turn give the kids more fights. if we can not find you an appropriate division, a full credit / refund will be issued*

RULES FOR COMPETITORS

1) Should have a mouth guard

2) Must have finger and toenails cut ( will be checked at weigh in)

3) Must show Good Sportsmanship- Win, Lose or Draw ( Shake opponents hand and other coaches hand)

4) HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!

REGISTRATION

For smooth running on comp day there will be no extension of registration dates. Registration period may be closed early should a maximum number of entries be reached, so don't leave your registration until the last minute.

Athletes competition fee are non refundable.

WEIGH-INS

Division times are updated live, please keep an eye on times on the website and ensure you arrive a minimum of 1 hour before your division is scheduled to run. If you are not present when your division is called you may be disqualified.

Competitors must weigh in wearing in full AFBJJ legal GI 

If you do not weigh in EQUAL TO or LESS THAN the maximum limit of your nominated division you will be disqualified. (i.e. if you are registered in the -38kg division, you must weigh 38KG or less. If you weight more than 38kgs you must move up to the next weight division).

Once weighed in you must stay in the competitor area until the conclusion of your division. If you leave the competitor area before the conclusion of your division and fail to be present at the mat for your next bout you may be disqualified.

DIVISIONS

To ensure that all kids get a match we may need to make mixed brackets that combine ages or weights. We make every effort to match kids divisions as close as possible to their registered weight and age.

Divisions are single elimination with no bronze medal match (with the exception of 3 person divisions). In 4 person or larger divisions, bronze medal will be awarded for who loses in the semifinals, we will have 2 bronzes medalist .

Ranking Points - 45 Gold, 15 Silver, 5 Bronze.

REGISTRATION

All competitors are required to have current AFBJJ memberships to compete in all AFBJJ nation wide events. In order to compete the online registration process, competitors must authenticate using their AFBJJ membership username/ID & password. DCA MMA GRAND OPENING

We are excited to announce the upcoming move to our new facility on Winton Rd that features a larger mat space, sauna and shower facilities and a new functional training zone! We will be holding an open mat and bbq at the new gym on Sunday October 29th at 12pm-2pm (see details below). Classes will commence per our current timetable at the new facility on Monday October 30th.

PLEASE NOTE: Our last class at the old facility will be next week on Wednesday October 25th. All classes from Thursday 26th - Saturday 28th of October will be cancelled.

Held in House at AMMA GYM BALCATTA.

Round Robin | Submission Only | Gi and No-Gi

SUBMISSION GRAPPLING TOURNAMENTS:

SGT is a SUBMISSION ONLY TOURNAMENT.

There are no POINTS, no ADVANTAGES and no EXTRA TIME ROUNDS.

You MUST Submit at least one of your opponents to be in the running for a medal. If the division has NO SUBMISSIONS, there will be NO MEDALS handed out. If the match ends without a SUBMISSION, it will deemed to be a DRAW.

GENERAL RULES and Details.

- Weigh in wearing your No-Gi attire (even if you are only competing in the Gi).

- Weigh In up to an hour before your division starts.

- You MUST be in your nominated weight division or you will forfeit your division.

- It’s Round Robin, you will have a maximum of 6 rolls in EACH division (6 in Gi and 6 in No-Gi).

- There is No Open or Absolute Division.

- EBI Rules for Purple Belts and Above (check out our web site for the list www.sgt.org.au).

- Once your division starts, you will be required to stay in the warm up area till your division is completed.

- There are no stipulations on Rash Guard rank and color.
